Can I take a distribution this quarter?
How many months of runway do we really have?
My data is a mess. How am I supposed to know what's going on?
I got the quarterly financials. What does that mean for cash in Q4?
What do I tell the bank?
Why is cash tight after a record sales month?
When does our biggest customer actually pay?
Our methodology: Cash Mapping
We start with the source data: your bank, your general ledger and your customer data. Then we take the time to learn how your business actually runs, because every business is different, and map every dollar to when it really moves: week by week up close, month by month further out.
Your business
How you sell, bill, pay and get paid. We take the time to learn it first.
Your bank
Every account and transaction, tied to the balance.
Your general ledger
Payroll, rent, debt, taxes: the costs that set your baseline.
Your customer data
Who pays, how much and how fast, invoice by invoice.
- Your business tells a cash story. We listen.
- We identify cash gaps and opportunities months in advance.
- No more last-minute scrambles over cash.
So you know
- How fast to grow
- Where cash is stuck
- When to hire
- When to borrow or raise
- What you can distribute
- What to tell the bank or board
We meet you where you are.
Every company has cash questions. Whatever yours are, we replace reactive scrambling with a forward-looking forecast and a clear cash strategy.
Growth
Revenue is increasing, and cash is being stretched in all directions. We show you what's possible so you can plan for growth without surprises.
Pressure
Margins are tight or a major customer is paying late. We bring stability: a short-term cash forecast, contingency plans and a clear view of the options.
Transition
An acquisition, a refinancing, a line renewal, a sale or a leadership change. We give you, your lenders and your investors one reliable view of cash.
A stretched finance team
Your team is focused on the close and stretched thin. We take the cash forecast off their plate and give leadership time back.
Profit, but no cash
The P&L says you had a great month, but the bank doesn't agree. We show you where the cash went and when it comes back.
Burn and runway
You're spending ahead of revenue. We track burn and runway for the weeks and months ahead, so you know when to raise and how much you need.
Frequently asked
Our books are a mess. Can you still help my business?
Yes. We're happy to get our hands dirty, and we work in the major accounting and ERP systems, so we know how data flows in and out of a business. We start from bank activity, which is always current, use the books where they're reliable, and fix what distorts cash first.
Is this for companies in trouble, or companies doing well?
Both. Companies under pressure need to know how long cash lasts and what buys time. Growing companies need to know what they can afford. The first step is the same.
We're a venture-backed startup. Is this for us?
Yes. For a startup the cash questions are burn and runway: how many months you have, what changes them, and when to start raising. Cash Mapping answers those for the weeks and months ahead, from the same source data, so you go into your next raise with numbers your board and investors can rely on.
How is this different from what my accountant does?
Your accountant looks back: tax returns, year-end, the monthly statements. This looks forward: what cash will do over the coming weeks and months, and what to do about it.
Should we just hire a full-time CFO?
Maybe one day. Many growing companies are too complex to run on a bookkeeper alone but not ready for a full-time CFO, and would rather put that salary into sales and product. We cover cash and liquidity in that gap, and work alongside your CFO once you have one.
I have a CFO or controller. Why bring you in?
To take the cash forecast off their plate. They get a forecast they can stand behind and time back for the rest of the job.
How much of my time does it take?
A first call and one working session to review the forecast. Your team provides access and a few standard reports.
How far ahead do you look?
Both near and far. Week by week for the next few months, because payroll, vendor runs and customer payments land in specific weeks and that is where short-term pinch points hide. Month by month beyond that, so gaps and opportunities show up well in advance and you have time to react.
What does it cost?
It depends on the size and complexity of the business: entities, bank accounts and the state of the books. We scope it on a short call and send a written proposal before any work starts.
What happens once the map is built?
Most owners want it kept current. We can update it every week, so the numbers stay right as the business moves. Getting cash right often means getting the books right, and we can help there too, from cleanup to ongoing controller support.
